Konganpada is celebrated at the historic temple in Chittur, which is 10 kilometers away from Palakkad town. It is a grand festival of historic importance. It is celebrated every year on the first Monday of the month of Kumbam (Malayalam Month) to commemorate the victory of Nairs of Chittur over the militia of Konganadu (Coimbatore led by the Chola King Rajadhani Raja).
