Pattambi Nercha

This festival is celebrated in the middle of February every year in grand manner. Tippu, the Emperor of Mysore, relates it to the invasion of this area. His soldiers, who had settled at Pattambi, had started this celebration in 1913 in memory of Aloor Valia Pookunhikoya Thangal, who had helped them in their distress. The nercha is an example of communal harmony. About 40 Caparisoned elephants participate in the celebration.
